5 Unspoken Tips Every Creator Should Know Before Working on a Brand Campaign

Brand partnerships are one of the most exciting parts of being a creator, but delivering a successful campaign is about much more than filming a great video.

After working with creators across countless campaigns, we've noticed there are a few habits that separate good partnerships from great ones. These aren't always included in the brief, but they can make a huge difference to both your content and your relationship with the brand.

In this article, Talent Agent Sarah McAleer, outlines five unspoken tips every creator should keep in mind:

1. Read the brief properly (yes, all of it!)

It sounds obvious, but you'd be surprised how often important details get missed.

Before you even think about scripting or filming, read the brief from start to finish, and then read it again!. Highlight the key messaging, deliverables, mandatory talking points, and most importantly the call-to-actions (CTAs).

Taking a few minutes to understand exactly what's being asked will save time, reduce revisions, and help you create content that actually delivers on the campaign objectives.

2. Pitch a fully developed concept

When brands ask for a concept, don't just send a one-line idea.

Instead, explain your creative direction. Tell them how you plan to open the video, how you'll naturally integrate the brand, the overall tone, and why you think it'll resonate with your audience.

Giving brands a clearer vision builds confidence, speeds up approvals, and shows that you've put genuine thought into the partnership.

3. Film more than you think you'll need

This is one of the biggest lessons experienced creators learn.

Always overshoot your content.

Capture multiple takes, different angles, additional B-roll, and alternative hooks. You may not need it all, but if feedback comes back requesting changes, you'll be incredibly grateful to have extra footage instead of having to reshoot days later.

More content gives you more flexibility, and flexibility makes editing much easier.

4. Post when your audience is actually online

Don't just publish because it's convenient.

Your audience insights tell you exactly when your followers are most active, so use that data. If your peak engagement is at 7pm on a Wednesday, let the brand know and recommend publishing then.

A small scheduling adjustment can have a noticeable impact on reach and engagement, benefiting both you and the campaign.

5. Don't disappear after you hit ‘Post’

Posting your content isn't the finish line.

The first hour after your content goes live is one of the most important windows for engagement. Respond to comments, answer questions, and interact with your community.

Not only does this create a better experience for your audience, but it also sends positive engagement signals that can help your content perform better.

To Summarise:

The best creator partnerships aren't built on follower count alone, they're built on professionalism, preparation, and collaboration.

The small things often make the biggest difference, and brands definitely notice the creators who consistently go the extra mile!
